Ok, so I bought a bunch of new hardware to build a PC. Its been about 4 years since the last one I built and I am a bit rusty.

So I got everything installed and plugged in, I push the power button and all the fans come on yet the DVD drive won't open and my monitor stays blank. Here are the specs of the machine, any help would be great. I fiddled with it for like an hour because I had the jumper in the wrong place so like I said, I am a bit rusty.

Jumper? What was the jumper for?

Try couple of things, First reset your MOBO/CMOS, also check to see that your Memory & VC are properly seated, monitor too;)

:confused You had "the jumper" in the wrong place. A bit vague, don't you think? "The jumper".... It's kind of like "I gave that thing to that guy over there, yeah, the guy with the face and the hair, he was in that place with that lady driving the car, yeah, the car with the wheels."
    (sorry for the sarcasm :innocent)

Ok, I am going to pick up a new PCIe card today and just hope that there is an issue with the onboard video.

I reset the CMOS and still didn't get anything.

Ok, got the new card in and I am having the same issue. Everything hooked to the power supply seems to be on (I can hear the HD spinning, all my fans and lights are running) but I have no idea if the MOBO is getting power or if the DVD drive is (won't open).

For whatever reason the monitor will not come on (giving me a "no imput or cable disconnected" message.)

    Any ideas?

Well now that I think about it the motherboard has to be connected to power supply because it is responding to the on button on the front of the PC is hooked throught the motherboard.

I am really stumped here, I mean I would imagine that the onboard video was the issue but I have the PCIe card in and I am still getting no signal.
