I have a four year old Dell Dimension 2350. I'm thing of replacing it. I just used it for the Internet and some household stuff. I don't do alot of gaming..
I'm not sure what PC I should buy, HP, Dell etc. I thought about a MAC but   not sure..

Any suggestion on what PC you feel it the best. I'm looking at spending about $1,500...

If you're not planning on gaming there is no need to spend $1,500.

You could buy just about any computer $500+ to just do internet and household stuff.

Macs are good quality, a bit more expensive for what you get but they have a very user friendly operating system and excellent technical support. The iMacs start at $1000 and the computer is bundled within the screen for a low profile, less wires setup. The mini could also get the job done.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm worried about the Mac being compatible with Windows based software...

Yes it won't be. But it still has MS Office and a web browser is a web browser for the most part. It's not too difficult. What programs do you use on your PC that you're worried about on a Mac?

Personally, I would buy the PC from a small, local independent PC store, and not from a chain store and DEFINITELY not from anywhere on the internet. I'm always amazed when someone buys a PC at Costco; just load it in the cart next to the 5 gallons of mustard and 250 pack of hamburger buns. A small PC store will custom build a PC to suit your needs, provide WAY better after the sale support and service (would you rather call someone in India reading a script, or someone 6 blocks away whose kids go to the same school yours do), and you can see and touch the parts before the PC is built. Many small PC stores will even let you sit with the tech while the PC is built, so you can see and learn and ask questions. So, if you just need basic home use PC, look to spend $450-$650, depending on exactly what features you need; will you be watching or burning DVD's? Any games? Are you into photo's or music? All this goes into building a PC that you'll be happy with......

    lol, ya gotta love costco...

anyways, i agree with dave here; could you maybe be a bit more specific as to what you wanna do with it? Dell's actually arent too bad, neither are HPs. As for Costco computers lol, thats where I got MY first computer in 2004, a sony vaio, and it was really nice. and you can return pretty much anything for any reason at any time there lol. i seriously love that place...

keep in mind you wont need to buy a new monitor to go with it (unless u want to :D or are planning on keeping the old computer around) so you wont need to buy one of those package deals.
