New Printer

Hi folks, I want a printer, just a basic model (which i can get cheaper compatible ink). I do not need photo/fax/scanner just something which will give good quality (Letters/labels). Any suggestions:confused on make and model of required printer would be SPLENDID.Thankyou

I have always been very happy with my HP printers, although the ink ain't cheap. But if all you need is black and white printing (no color) and just letters and labels you probably can shop by price. Most basic printers do a reasonable job on text.

You might want to check out Consumer Reports. They check out printers every year and give a cost per page estimate, and a print quality estimate. I have been very pleased with their recommendations in the past.

If you are only going to do black and white printing, you also should consider a laser. The are more expensive up front, toner cartridges are expensive, but the printing cost per page can be cheaper for black and white and the print quality is definitely superior.

I spent a good chunk of time in Plymoth back in 1990. Strange but true.

 

Thanks for that honeysucklemama.I've just purchased a brother laser printer secondhand.The cheapest toner i've found is about £25, i did not even pay that for the printer,but you are correct,reading the reviews it is alot cheaper per page.
