New to overclocking...any help & suggestions

I've discovered from others the cpu-z program and its great because now I know what my pc is performing at. However, I would like to know from you how to overclock my pc, seeing as its as old as it is! Also, in the bios setup I noticed the Cpu and dram both were set at 100mhz, but ive changed the dram to 133mhz...I've not really noticed any change? How do i change my fsb speed and what's the difference between all the clock speeds as in the picture!

 

Do you know what speed your ram is rated at? Might be that its rated higher than 100Mhz.

Oh and I went to see Nightwish in London at the Astoria a couple of weeks ago, they rocked

 

You should really tell us more about your system. Memory speed? If it's 133MHz (266DDR) or better there should be no problem. Cooling? Are you running a stock cooler? CPU/case temps? Those Thunderbirds may get a bit hot. When all this has been sorted overclocking process itself will be quite straight forward.

 

To be honest I'm not sure what my memory speed is but i think my ram chipset is 168 pin if that helps. I really dont have a clue what fan cooler I have, I've never taken it into consideration before, just bought and used the computer from Mesh 4 and half years ago.
Goldfish, Nightwish rule and so do Within Temptation. Ive taken a liking to gothic metal more and more, but Indie will always rock!

 

168 pin.. isnt that SDR I believe.

If you have PC133 ram you might be able to crank the fsb to 133 and get away with it and get some more MHz on that CPU. Do you happen to know what motherboard you are running? Oh yeah, and Nightwish kicks arse! http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

 

My RAM is running at 100mhz i think...i tried increasing it to 133 but my computer doesnt like it. My motherboard is an asus a7v-e. Ive tried a few things but im still looking things up about the dip switches.
