New to this-which spyware to use? Help please

Hi, Hope you can help-I am not very technical. I have just got a new PC and have Avast and Zone Alarm but am not sure what else to download as there are so many different ones as I am confused especially as I am told some can conflict.
I use the PC for browsing mostly, don't download much. I want to have free downloads if possible. I was looking at spyware blaster-is it OK and would it be enough on ots own or is ad-aware better,
I have looked to see if there is a tutorial on this but can't find it-there's so much stuff on here,
Please help a newbie who really wants to learn

You should read thru the below sticky procedure which is easy to find. It is on every page in the malware forum since it is a sticky. It is about the 7th message down from the top. Read it and see what we recommend. Since you have Avast and ZoneAlarm, you have steps 2 & 3 finished already.

How to Protect yourself from malware!

All of the things I list below are available from the above link:

Yes download and install SpywareBlaster and enable all protection.

Also download and install Spybot Search & Destroy and use the SDHelper function and also use the Immunize feature. Do not use Teatime function. It can be a resource hog.

Ad-Aware SE is good to have install as an additional scanning/removal tool. It does not do anything else like provide protection unless you buy it.

Also you need a full time spyware blocking application and since you want free, use Microsoft Windows Defender

Make sure you take the advice given in the other steps.
