I just installed redhat 7.2 at home because i have to learn it for work, i have road runner internet and when i booted redhat it wants a login for the network, of course the ""roadrunner help desk"" doesnt support any unix, i managed to still login under root after disabling all ethernet connections plus i tried to seup a new connection in gnome using the internet connection wizard but it wont let me set it up without entering a username and password. I dont have to use a login in windows for roadrunner. The technician said i dont have to use any type of login to connect to the netowk. I also tried just using my email login and password but to no avail. Anyone have any was to get around using a login and password?

I apologize, trent. I guess I didn't address the question.
No dial-up ISP would let you connect without authentication of some kind, would they? That would be crazy just to "let anybody in".

Robster, i greatley appreciate your time. I found out that since i had also installed server components becuase that is part of what i have to learn for work, it was using my computer as dns and everthign. I had a valid ip address and could ping outside ips but i couldnt view html, i just reinstalled redhat 7.2(as whick is nothing compared to having to rtenstall windows. It seems to work fine now. Thank you.

    Whew!!!
Man, you didn't know how much I was sweating that! I thought that I had given a response that was not up to par, that this thread would have been "stepped on" by me, and you wouldn't get the help you wanted.

Good luck with all of your Linux adventures. I just love the stuff myself, though I have not yet had the opportunity to get any hands on experience with any kind of networking, other than hooking my box up to an isp via dial-up connection.
See you here at Majorgeeks in the future!
    Regards,
    Robert
