So my dad just go a new computer and he passed his old one onto me.
Here is the one he gave me http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/5062/5062nv.shtml

I don't have a ton of money but I wanted to upgrade it a bit, so I bought a new video card for it.
    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814121007

It arrived today and I installed it fine and put the driver CD in... (the CD didn't autorun, which is probably irrelevant) and I ran the setup.

It got most of the way through when it popped up an error.
"The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit"

Am I totally boned on this? or is there something I can do to fix this?

I tried calling the ASUS help line, but they apparently closed yesterday for Christmas...

I have never been a hardware kind of person, maybe this is why. :-(

Try downloading the latest driver directly from nvidia, those will be the most up-to-date and provide the best compatibility since the 7600GS is a pretty new card

What does your device manager state ye have, for display adapter? To find out, click START, then RUN, then type in devmgmt.msc (press enter) Click the + next to "display adapter".

We assume ye are running xp?

    ok... more trouble shooting.

I contacted a friend and he was able to recreated the same error (word for word).

We think it has something to do with the PnpID number. For some reason, it is not finding the card's ID number when it tries to install.

I downloaded a program that will show me all the devices hooked up to my computer, pulled the number from the NVidea device and the nv4_disp file already has them listed...

What my friend did to recreate the error was just remove his card's PnpID from the list and run the setup.

So... I'm really lost now. I tried to do a search for the PnpID for my card EN7600GS Silent (ASUS), but the only result is in Russian... and yeah, that doesn't help me much.

    Any other suggestions?

P.S. I get the error when I try to install from either the CD or the forceware from the NVidia site.

oh, and theefool, the device manager still says I am still using the Integrated Intel Chipset graphics. :(

Try uninstalling the device, within device manager.
