New video card temps

Hi guys,
I got a new BFG 6800 OC a few days ago and I'm not too sure I like these temps.This thing Idles at60-62 stock or oce'd(Got 430 &1100 no probs )and hits 78-80 easily in game or running 3dmark.I already ordered a tube of arctic silver,and I'm looking at a silencer 5,but right this sec I do not like these temps.I dont like my 3d mark score of 11300 either,seems like I ought to get more.Am I just beeing noid here or what??? BTW,a little history,I've already had this chip,as I had a 6800 it idled at 52-53 and never even saw it hit 65.And thats with a major oc on it (Pipes unlocked, 425, 850)
So that is whyfore my paranoia.

What are your system specs?

 

i have a bfg 6800gt o/c and mine is idleing at 55c as i type this , however it maxes out at around 67c never seen it go any higher.

How do you get that good a score on 3dmark. I have the exact same video card as you and a amd athlon 64 3500+. I get like 5100.

 

Whooooaa,you got a major problem somewhere man.I would run hd tach,memtest86 for starters,if you dont see anything there,take ur power suppy to a local comp shop and have em test it.Wait wait,You did notice I said 03,right???That looks like an 05 score.If not I was getting better than that with a 6600.whats ur cpu running at??? I hear thse things easily get like 2.4.Anyways if thats an 03 score you better start looking for the problem.Btw both those programs I mentioned are free ,do a google search.

 

OK,so heres something that I noticed ,when I go online and look at my scores on futuremarks page my core speed is not read properly.It is read as 12 mhz.Heres a post...I see others are getting 12,500 with this card and same system specs,and it registers their core speeds correctly,so what gives,any ideas????

You didn't mention your score was from 03.
And those scores you are looking at could be from systems that have just been setup. If yours hasn't thats your reason probably, I can't think of anything else. And i'll just go check the temps on my video to see how they compare.

 

I just checked on mine and my temperature at Idle is 53 with an ambient temperature of 38. After playing Doom 3 and highest everything for a while it went up to 72 and with an ambient temperature of 58. Those temperatures you have are not much more than mine. That could be the reason you are getting a lower score.

 

Your right sorry about the 3d mark mixup.I cant see how a new setup versus a burned in setup would affect the score tho.Windows is fresh and everything works fine.You see I just fried a 6800,and that is the root of my concern with this cards scores,as I was almost achieving them with a 6800 ddr1 clocked at 850 mhz.The ram is much faster on this card (ddr3 1060mhz)and I dont even have to push to get ultra speeds,(coolbits does it as optimal frequency):So I feel as tho something is wrong with the card.Btw 53 as an idle is nowhere near 62 as an idle in my book.(not to sound rude at all)But that parts solved as I just ordered a nv silencer 5 rev 3 from newegg.(that'll keep er cool ): Anyways thanx for ur replies
