Does it install over my current MSN Messenger? The screenshot looks pretty much the same. Or is it a separate application? Running XPsp2.

What version is your current MSN messenger?

But guessing it maybe Version 7 ( unless you using the Beta of Live Messenger ) I would be tempted to uninstall your old MSN messenger 7 and then install MSN Live Messenger ( aka MSN Messenger 8 ).

Its should install over the top of version 7 but it was a while ago when I installed the beta's of MSN8 so cannot fully remember, but best to uninstall and install the new.

I'm running the most current MSN Messenger version. Whatever that is, 7.5 or 8 is what I have on the home pc.

I would still uninstall and re-install the latest version and if you had MSN 8 it was a beta up until this release.

I don't think so. Live Messenger will be a selective installation and upgrade to MSN Messenger by the user. I'm still not totally clear on this but I believe I can successfully install Live Messenger over my current latest version of MSN Messenger, 7.5.

Nope as tritonobx mentions its a standalone selective install, and those are not normally on windows update, Toni_1947 has posted the link to the final full version now listed on MG, I installed it earlier.

Yes tritonobx, you should have no problems in just installing it over MSN7.5 as MSN8 does install into the same MSN Messenger folder in Program Files, I mainly choose to uninstall big version updates or in this case as had been running the betas of MSN so didnt elect to update, but uninstall the old and install the new.

Successfully installed Live Messenger over MSN Messenger. A good upgrade for those liking the additional capabilities. I like the offline messaging feature, something Yahoo Messenger already had, and recording and sending voice clips when IM'ing a contact . Also like the quick access to MSN videos from within the Live Messenger window.
