hi i got a new X1300 a few days ago and well it doesnt work .. my Normal 9600 XT 256mb AGP works fine which is what im using right now but my X1300 won't work

Card Scrambles Before Reaching Windows it flickers adn then my Moniter and Other moniters ive tested it on say Mode Not Supported or Signal Lost .. and the computer will not start up again till i take the card out put another card in then switch the new Card Back in again

Below is Quoted what i sent to ATI Support .. i thought rather wait till monday for a answer maybe someone had this problem

Ok i got this card on the 19th put it in to my computer and connected all the leads .. started up after about 10-30 seconds it would just go to a Black Screen and my LCD Moniter would show Mode Not Supported .. and then the Computer would not boot back up till i put my Old Radeon 9600 XT back in and then i can take it out and put the X1300 back in .. i thought it might of been my PSU . as it was only 350watts so today i went down to the Computer shop and got a 500 Watt PSU put it in tested it on old card first worked perfect check staus all was good so i swaped over an put the X1300 in worked to the loading screen for windows Flickers then Says mode not supported

Some times it makes it to the loading screen of windows before it flickers some times it doesn't sometimes it will flicker at the Enter Bios Screen .. ive tryed everything here with the PSU and i tryed the Video card on Another System and it wouldn't work on that system either

    Im running a

    3,2 GHZ Pentium 4
    1gb PC3200 RAM
    160GB WD Harddrive
Brand New 500Watt PSU (Tryed on a 350Watt PSU also) so it not PSU problem

I don't want to go off topic, but I can never understand why manufacturers use 512MB of (very expensive) RAM on a low end card.

the 512mb helps me in Video Editing ... Some Cards now have 1gb Onboard Memory

I think you are confused...a professional graphics card would help you more, even if it only had 128mb vram.

The extra vram isn't going to help anywhere outside of sup[er high resolution gaming (above 1600x1200), in which the card chipset doesn't have the power to push the game.

It would be the same in a 3D graphical environment, too. Unless the card itself is powerful enough, the extra vram is a total gimmick.

More system ram would help with video editing though.

Does the video scramble even at POST?

yes sometimes at Post sometimes in Windows ... so im pretty sure it is the card it might of got damaged in shipping

If it happens even at POST, I agree. Unless there something wrong with the monitor signal cable.
