have you tried getting the latest service pack for XP? Also, have you gone to network properties and installed everything available [especially everything under Internet protocol (TCP/IP)]. Finally, try finding new drivers for your network adapter online.

    Try this:
    1. Open control panel
    2. Double click on "network connections"
    3. Right-click on the network adapter and choose "properties"
    4. In the window that opens, look for a button near the top named "configure". Click on this. This should open another window. Click on the "advanced" tab at the top of the window - this should be the second tab from the left - and look down the list on the left for "speed and duplex". Click on this entry and change the value on the right in the drop-down box to "1000Mbps full duplex." then OK out of all the windows except the network connections one. If "1000Mbps Full duplex" is not available, make sure the setting is at "auto-negotiate" and OK out of all the boxes then post back.
    5. Wait for the adapter to reconnect at 1Gb/s, and then repeat the process but change the connection speed to "auto-negotiate". This should have forced the computer to 1Gb/s.

If any of these steps do not work or are unclear please post back and we will help more.
