I have the same problem-- I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread or not. :confused
I don't know if extra background info helps or not....I had to use boot and nuke on my husband's laptop. After reinstalling XP I have several things in the device manager not working-- Under "Other devices" The following are listed with the big yellow question mark and a small yellow exclamation point over it:
    Multimedia Audio Controller
    PCI modem
    Unknown device
    Video Controller (VGA compatible)

I've tried downloading the sound and video drivers from the panasonic website, but they don't work and there's not a .inf file with it either.

This laptop is a Panasonic Toughbook CF-48F/G. I am not sure about it's history, it was bought on ebay... It could have a different motherboard for all I know.

    Thanks for your help! :)

    TO: Angieandpooster:

Always start a new thread. Even if you have the same problem as someone, it is always best to start your own thread. But, since I'm here, and you're here, here we go:
    wifi: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/public/soft_first/cf-48/wlan_48_6_d030423.exe
    video: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/public/soft_first/cf-48/video_48_6_d030638.exe
    sound: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/public/soft_first/cf-48/sound_48_6_d030461.exe
    chipset: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/public/soft_first/cf-48/intelinf_48_6_d030128.exe
    modem: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/public/soft_first/cf-48/modem_48_6_d030179.exe
    network/ethernet: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/public/soft_first/cf-48/lan_48_6_d010626.exe
    hotkeys: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/public/soft_first/cf-48/hotkey_48_6_d030252.exe

Those are all direct links; this means the download dialog will start without being routed to a different web site. Even if you don't need all of 'em, I'd recommend downloading them all anyway, then burn 'em to a CD for future use.

EDIT- I downloaded both the sound driver and the video driver and extracted 'em both (install TUGzip, then right click on the downloaded .exe files and you can extract 'em without installing 'em). The sound driver is a SigmaTel AC97; nothing special, and the inf IS in the folder. The video is for Radeon Mobility 9000 (also called M9). Extract the video folder, then point the hard wizard to the the folder called 'Driver' which is in the folder called 'video_48_6....' and if that doesn't work, start a new thread and post a link to this thread in it and we'll go from there.

TO: Deancraw: sorry about all this... this is why we start new threads and don't hijack someone elses thread. Anyway- follow musksnipes advice and post the report here as an attachment and we'll go from there.
