i just did a clean fresh install of windows xp. i got the wlan driver and the ATI control graphics driver system installed just fine. im running half ubuntu 12.4 and half xp on this system. my ubuntu partition has sound just fine. but my xp side has no sound or even a sound bar. it claims no audio device. now ive installed realtek audio drivers, crystal drivers, and ati graphics center came with high def audio drivers plus what drivers came with the xp install in the first place VGA i think... ive scoured device manager and no card is showing. ive tried add new hardware like three times and nothing and i even check in :Run services.msc to see if the audio supply had disabled itsself and it didnt. i reset it anyway but it was never disabled. i am lost and dont know what to do. P.s. this is an imaging job for a friend and im getting paid for this job. almost everything has been smooth and perfect all the way from using ubuntu to remove the corrupted shit demon of vista and even getting XP installed was pretty easy. this is the first major problem i have come to yet... please HALP!!!!(its a custom built computer but i am pretty sure the sound card is realtek. im gonna log into ubuntu and see if device profiler can give me more info on the exact type of sound card i have. i will be back to check this in 20 minutes)

Did you install the chipset drivers? Chances are you have a sound chip on the motherboard rather than a separate sound card. You need to mention the make and exact model of computer so people reading can find your hardware.

Its a custom built machine but i just took a look at the internals from my ubuntu side via hardware profiler, and i was able to find out literally every thing in this computer, except the realtek wireless card, is AMD/ATI. i already installed the AMD 12.6 legacy driver control system. i dont mean to sound dumb here but its a 2.6 ghz amd processer w/ 2gigs ram and 500gb internal hdd. custom built, already have the graphics and WLAN drivers installed so internet and visual is perfectly fine. W.XP SP3, and the part i dont want to feel dumb saying or asking is (im a backyard tech, both my parents were techs and ive been on comps for years but never went to school for it) i want to ask what you mean by "chipsets" i dont believe i have installed chipsets but if you could explain them a little and tell me possibly how to obtain the ones i might need? it would be appreciated
