No Audio Device Error

I hope someone can help here...
I have a Tiny 5-3500 pci express system which decided to die on me the other week. I managed to reinstall windows and get everything back to near enough normal, except i have no audio!
I checked the BIOS, but that has the audio set to auto, and everything is plugged in just as it should be inside. My audio used to work, so i suspect it's something to do with the reinstall, but i can't figure out what.

The audio controller is an intel 82801FB ICH6 High Definition Audio Controller [B-1] if that helps anyone.

I'm running xp pro with 1GB memory and 3GHz P4

I have double checked the drivers cd which came with the pc, and the only fles in the folder are .pdf files which aren't much use. I can't "roll back" the drivers as I had a major crash and had to do a full reinstall of xp, so there is nothing to rollback to.

so, i used the cpuid program, (www.cpuid.com) and discovered that my motherboard is :

Manufacturer : First International Computer Inc.
Model: P4M-915G/PD1 PCB 2.X
Chipset: Intel i915P/i915G Rev B1
Southbridge: Intel 82801FB (ICH6)
Sensor: IT 8712

So, i went to the fic website, and found this page:

Downloaded all the files (except INTEL.zip which was not found)
Ran ICH6.zip first, like it says, then the rest, but STILL no sound!

Am I being really thick here, or am I doing something wrong?

Also, In device manager, I have 3 yellow ! signs at:

Multimedia Controller
Multimedia Video Controller
Network Controller

This is driving me crazy!

 

those drivers should be on the mb disk.
so a search on the disk for

soundmax
those boards use that sound system

 

Get a copy of Everest Home Edition from HERE and that will tell you what sound chip and other hardware you have as well as provide manufacturers links for updated drivers.
