ok well just upgraded to a new computer that my gfs dad gave me i took the hdd from my old computer and installed it as a slave on my new one.....

vista is now saying there is no audio output device installed....when i go into device manager there is a yellow caution sign that says mutimedia audio controller and it says there is no drivers installed.

i cant seem to find the right driver because i am kind of unsure of exactly what onboard audio i have ....

i have an ECS 761GX-M754 motherboard...im pretty sure its onboard is Realtek but im sure somone could point me in the right direction ...

    thanks in advance.

ECS states that the AD 1888 Codec audio driver is the one for all 3 versions of your motherboard.

If you want to wait a bit I will look in this difference a bit more. (It will be about an hour or so)
Or set a system restore point and give it a try.
I just checked a site where the sound driver support person suggested that same driver for your board. (I haven't seen her get it wrong yet.)

Did your motherboard originally have XP as an OS and then you upgraded it to Vista?
I can't find Vista drivers for either your chipset or sound chip at ECS.
I did get a SiS 7012 driver but whether it run in Vista, I don't no.

Try using the program compatibility wizard to get these drivers to run with vista. I would try the AD1888 first, then this one.
This Sis 7012 driver is a .zip file so you will have to unzip and point the wizard to setup.exe
