no boot in xp home

can anyone help me with this problem ??
when i try to start my computer i get a screen giving the option to start up in safe mode
or command prompt

or last known good configuration

on pressing the last one it tries to boot up but gets as far as the xp logo for a few secs then a blue screen with white writing flashes up for a split second.
then it just goes back to the first screen.
it will not boot up in safe mode either it just scrolls loads of lines then goes back to start.

If you have System Restore enabled, you can try that via Safe Mode with Command Prompt?

You can also try a Repair if you have your XP CD.

it wont let me do a command prompt or if i try to boot from a cd i get no repair or install options

 

Are you sure you are booting from CD? (not just autoplaying it, although that does give you the repair option)

Set your Bios to boot from CD, insert it into the drive and reboot.

 

I dunno if this will help your situation, but i have experienced a similar problem. I found it to be an underpowered power supply, as i had been experimenting with overclocking before it happened. If your psu is weak, then try unplugging your usb devices before you boot and plug them back in after its booted up. The only long term solution however was reformatting.. also try safe mode (if u can get to it) and underclock your stuff if the above doesnt work. again, only try this if you have a weak psu. unless your a risk taker
