Weird one here, performed a Defluff and on starting I get next to nothing so I have/Replaced memory/Replaced PSU /Replaced Vid card. On each boot I get to the ''Windows Loading'' screen and there it sticks. Tried with Win 7 disc to repair and get the same it will read data from disc then gets to ''Windows Loading'' screen and halts. Same happens in Safe Mode/Repair/Boot. Now me thinks its Mobo has had its day as its unlikely to be CPU and have run a 'SeaTools' drive diagnostic on HD in another Rig and it passed several tests. Bios says CPU temp 29. c and M/B 34.c with minimal variants just 0.02 V. Had BSD once with error code 0X0000005 but can find no relevant answer for my prob. Question is Geeks is this the mobo giving up and it was pure coincidence that it stopped after me defluffing ??? :major

I take it you used a compressed air canister, And not a vacuum?

But yes, it does look like a "deed" motherboard, as we say up in Bonnie Scotland.

    Re: Update

Having left the rig alone for 36 hours I once again attempted a boot but had the same result. Tried Safe Mode with command prompt and Eureka it loaded and a window popped up stating to reboot for changes to be made so throwing caution to the wind I rebooted an lo and behold it actually booted and fully loaded. Ran a spy prog and that was running for about 3 minutes went to make a coffee and returned to find it had rebooted itself and was now stuck on Windows Loading. Rebooted into the same safe mode com. promt and I now have the following BSOD message.

Adress 82221005 base at6 82219000, Datestamp 4a5bbf89 could this be a Windows update gone array ?? Have tried many more times but still get BSOD with different Addresses 8220E210, 8220D0500. If this was a mobo issue why the complete boot earlier, ??? any ideas fellow Geeks ( I haved added a further 2 HD's and mobo recognises them NP )

    Asus SLI Premium
    1 Gig Corsair
    1Terrabyte Spinpoint
    512mb Graphics
    570 Watt PSU
    Win 7 Ultimate (fully updated)

    1. Are you getting any bios beeps at all. I am guessing that if your system freezes/sticks at the Windows loading screen the bios is giving one beep.

    2. For clarity, when you say system sticks at the loading screen do you mean freezes or just does not proceed but waiting bar is moving.

    3. Does this board have diagnostic lights and is everything green?

At this stage, what I would do is try to boot from a Linux Live cd. At least if the system boots to the Linux desktop, then my tendency would be that this is a software problem rather than hardware related.

With the Linux Live cd get Puppy (100mb and will load in ram). You can take the cd out once on the desktop.

This bit is confusing me. Points to HW issue but given that you were running SB seems software. If your system had been idle and rebooted then would susoect hw. Also if you had mobo or cpu problems Seatools would at some point have issues with it's scan, if you see what I mean.

Don't mean to appear schizophrenic about this but as you say weird problem. My money's on software issue personally.

    Good Luck

Thanx for reply risk_reversal. I have another working Rig that has an identical Mobo installed so took the OS HD from the com that was problem wired it in to the other running computer and it booted up NP :) So.... that leaves the CPU or Mobo, I am going to pitch for the CPU rather than the mobo so am just about to purchase a cheapy on line and see if that rectifies the fault, shall let you know the outcome. :major
