No desktop Background

Hello all.

I have a bit of a problem. I am unable to change my background. My nephew has tried to fix it but was unable to. He then told me about this website. I was wondering if any of you techie's would be able to help me out

 

There are a couple of ways to change your background pic

1. right click on your desktop, click properties, click desktop tab.
you can chose a pic on the list or you can browse for your own pic.

2. open the pic of your choice in MSPaint, click File, click Save As Background.

 

Welcome to MajorGeeks Suzy! Can you be a bit more specific on how you are trying to change the desktop image, and what errors/problems you are having? Also, what Operating System are you using?

Well I can sure try. It will not let me change the back ground through the properties. It is all greyed out, and just lets me change the colour.

 

have you lately ran a full system scan with your anti-virus and / or anti spyware programs?

 

If you know how to use RegEdit in Windows, the desktop wallpaper is in something like HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
The Wallpaper value is the filename. There are also style, and tile options which I believe can be safely set to 0.

 

I have run a scan with my McAfee and my nephew used malware bytes anti malware, or something like that. Not sure if I want to touch the registry or not.
