    Hello all,
I was given an old pc awhile back and I have been running Windows 98se on it. It was a 300mhz and I upgraded it to a 1ghz and 512Mb ram. It runs fine but I had an extra 250gb hard drive (western digital) and slaved it but windows won't assign it a drive letter.

It is recognized in the device manager. If I right click the drive in device manager and go to settings it doesn't show anything in the "current drive letter assignment" window. Could the HD just be to large a HD?

If I check the "Removable" box in device manager it shows up in "My Computer" as a drive. I didn't run it that way because I didn't know how it would effect everything. Would it be ok to run with this checked?

Any advice on this. Sorry for the lack of information please feel free to ask and I will answer the best I can. It isn't a big deal, I just run some side programs on it. Programs like TeamSpeak when I play online games and the like.

    Thanks
    Scott S.

Yeah- 250gb is too big for Win98SE.... I think W98 maxes at 137gb... I know Win2000 maxes out at 137gb. Anyway- it should be OK to run it as a removable; Windows still may not see the entire size correctly, but it should work for your purposes... good luck!
