No FLOPPY DRIVE or O.S. on this notebook

HP Pavilion zt1155 will not boot error message says " No Operating System Found".Was running HomeXP SP2.Don't know why crashed and OS is all gone,my kids pc.... When I try to use the Recovery CD's from HP when it gets to " copying diagnostics" then " verifying partition" error message "FAIL: Sector b06h of partition does not match the image" and it just keeps trying untill it shuts itself down. I've tried to copy win98 boot disk from floppy to CD and use the CD but no go. Downloaded some freeware HDD Repair ect onto CD from this site but all get same error message " no bootable CD inserted". Any help would be great!

Might want to open it up and check the manufacture of the drive and go get their diagnostics tools... or get the ultimate boot cd, it has them all.
Run that first and check if the drive is still operational.
