No Internet Access

I recently performed a System Recovery on my HP Pavilion g6000 and now I cannot connect to my router NetGear CGD24G50.
I ran the command promp and typed in "ipconfig" and every read,

"Media Disconnected",

I have no clue what I'm doing here, but I'm drawing a blank and guessing this is why I cannot connect to anything, update drivers , na-da.

How do I fix my problem?

Also. If it matters. I restored it to Factory Settings, as mentioned, and I am not able to connect to my router even though I am inputing the correct password.

 

Are you able to hard wire your laptop to the router and get internet? this would let us know if the modem is acting up. Also, ensure that the wireless adaptor is enabled. go to your connections window and see if you can see your wireless network. also, do you know if you previously where using a static IP? if so, then you will have to manually configure your ip address.

 

Since that system was first shipped in the summer of 2007, you have A LOT of updating to do. FYFI, download a copy of Vista SP2 and save it somewhere!
As JonBoy suggested, you really need to use a wired connection long enough to do all of the updates.
