I've decided to put my post my question here now since I think its more of a networking problem anyways.....so here it is. (please forgive the double post)

I downloaded LSPfix to help get rid of the new VX2 maleware that is ravaging the internet. So without without thinking instead of just deleting the files that I needed to I deleted ALL of the files that it listed. Now my old computer wont connect to the internet anymore. Is there a way to find out what files I deleted or some way to get back on the internet agian with out resorting to a reformatting? Oh and that computer has windows 2000 professional btw.

That was my original question. After that I was told to try uninstalling my tcp/ip protocol. I tried doing this and i recived an error message stated I needed to uninstall something called "Print services for unix" otherwise I couldnt uninstall the protocol. So I try to uninstall the Print services for unix. that didnt work because....well the bar would just go about halfway...stop..and say it was finished, but it didnt do anything and it certainly didnt uninstall it. then I tried the installing it so I could uninstall it aproach, That also ended in failure since it said I was missing a file or a registry key and the installation wouldnt finish. I also tried the program Winsockfix but that didnt seem to help either. So now I am completely perplexed on what to do next. Can anyone help me?

turn off / open your computer and remove your network card. start windows up. shut down / reinsert network card. start windows up, it'll reinstall the drivers for the card and also the protocols for networking. that should be enough. if not then after all this is done try to go network properties > uninstall all protocols (remember to write them down first so you know which ones you need) and them reinstall them. even though it won't remove the protocols, uninstall them all so you know you've done it then reboot your computer and they should all be gone.

I tried the first part of what you said but it still woudnt connect, so I uninstalled all the protocols (except for the tcp/ip because of the print services for unix thing) and I can reinstall them all except for the client for microsoft networks protocol. I got this message..."Could not add the component. The error is: the system cannot find the file specifed." Just as a side note I have to use the same cable between my computer with XP and the one with 2000. would there be issues with different ip addresses and one not connecting because of that? Thanks in advance!

Welp the new card didnt help and it still has the same problem with the host for microsoft networks (which im not sure is even the main problem). CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM! I've waited patiently for almost a month for someone to help, but noone has responded to my posts except for the initial question. Is it possible to recieve help on this site if a problem persists? Thanks in advance!
