no ip address, rpc server is unavailable, verizon says mytob but I can't find it

Please help if you can. I am running windows xp with sp2. My dsl come online today so I hooked it all up and it was fine for about 10 seconds. NOw all I get it a "aquiring internet address" thingy and no connection. With verizon tech support we ran all the cables, connections and resets. I amusing an ethernet connection. ALL of this was working two weeks ago with NO issues. Then they accidentally turned off my phone service so no dsl and had to wait two weeks to get it back on and now, we have problems.
I called verizon who eventaully declared I have the mytob virus.
I have run avast cleaner, symantec cleaner and another one to no avail, it is not found on my computer. Also ran windows malicious removal tool and the fixmytob tool.
Verizon declared this was the problem when we ran ipconfig something and it said rpc server is unavailable.
I found a no ip address thread on the forum here and tried to make sure my dhcp service is running and it says could not start dhcp client error 1068 dependancy group or service failed to start.

You might need to Reformat and install the OS.

However, for the future get a Cable/DSL Router even if you have only one computer.

It would make the DSL much more secure, stable, and slightly faster.

Since the DSL authentication would be moved from the PPPOE software to the Router it would be easier to determine when there is trouble whether it is Verizon or your system.

I reformatted my OS, I couldn't take one more hour of this! Problem solved, thanks for the help!
