NO music when playing CD.............

This could be considered a hdwe prob or a software prob, so I posted it here. reformatted Compaq comp and installed Win2K (orig WinME). CD roms worked when installing software. Installed drivers and everything seeks to work. Have speaker plugged in and mic works. But........put a CD in and no sound. It shows it is playing but no sound or clicks or hum or anything. Nothing on mute and volume turned up. Am I overloooking something simple? I usually do. Thanks

Hey Jack,

I would double-check and make sure the speakers are plugged into the right jack on the sound card.

Also, check in Device Manager and expand the CDROM. Click on Properties, Setting tab, check the Auto insert notification checkbox, and click OK.

Thanks Steve. Spkr is plugged in right. Remember I said mic works fine. will check the other option you mentioned. Also remember the CD ROMS work when inserting and uploading software.
