Just put new MOBO in with Vid card. No power at all, nothing. No fans etc...........

Dont have another Power Supply to test right now.

You guys think it is the power supply? I just bought a gamer case and it came with it. I planned on getting a good PSU anyways.

    Power Supply dead?

Hmmm. Power supply you've used before. Motherboard you haven't.

If it were me, I'd be wondering if your new mobo is DOA -- unless the install was bad and you shorted out the power supply. You'd probably know about it if that had happened.

But you're right. Swapping the power supply is easier than swapping the mobo. But it might be wise to make sure your old PSU still works before you swap in another PSU. It'd be a pity to burn up a second PSU with a bad mobo.

PSU cme with the Case. No fans even come on in the PSU but when I plug it in, the light in the kitchen dims.

No Power at all, fan etc.. The PSU came with the new Case.

Shouldnt the fan atleast come on inside the PSU?

Double check and make sure everything, cards, memory, and cables are in and tight. Often if something is loose you will have this problem. Also check the setting on the PSU and make sure it is set to the proper voltage for your country.

Never mind, it was a piece of junk ASUS board.

I actually put back in my old Intl MOBO and it worked. Unreal.

    Oh well.

The problem could be with your memory, not the motherboard/CPU. The signal to power-on comes through the motherboard, so if the mobo isn't responsive due to the memory not working with that motherboard/CPU, that could cause it.

Not necessarily -- it could depend on how the PSU is wired. I've seen it happen that a defective peripheral (shorted?) had the result you describe.

Lots of PSUs have protective circuitry that shut them down completely if a rail is shorted to ground. Where that's the case, they'll come back to life once the short is removed. It sounds like that's what's happened to you.

You might want to make sure that the mobo is bad before you RMA it. The manufacturer won't be happy if you return a board that's not defective because a bad install shorted out the PSU.
