No QuickTime for netbook users? Certainly this can't be right...

Got a new NetBook and, in the course of installing the usual lot of programs, got to Apple's QuickTime software.

Below the "Email Address" entry, where I would normally expect to see the "Download" button, I'm seeing this instead:

My new netbook (like every other netbook I've ever seen) has an Atom processor, not a Pentium processor... does that mean "No soup for you!" to netbook users?

I also saw in another thread (while searching before posting) that Halo mentions iTunes will install QuickTime by default..

I looked at the "Download" page for iTunes

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

and am getting the "Download" button I normally expect.

Also, the iTunes page doesn't mention this specific hardware requirement (just an Intel or AMD processor).

Might this be a workaround?

Or is something just acting 'hinky' for me on the QuickTime download page. Certainly I wouldn't be the first netbook user to notice this...

(and iirc, i had qt installed on my last netbook)

 

So, I never got from the thread that you actually tried it. Notice it says pentium (class) processor?

Thats any current day cpu. It should work, unless as you said, the download page is being wonky.

 

Guess I should have also mentioned that this was in Firefox, but I was tired last night (this morning) and apparently my brain wasn't working too well.

Worked fine for me in MSIE when I came into work this morning around 9am (Central), but I still had this issue in/with Firefox.

I just checked it again in Firefox, and *now* the "Download" button is there. Must have just been something wonky...
