No servers show up

In all my games, Counterstrike Source, BF:V, Doom 3, HL2M etc, no servers will show up, also nothing that has an auto updater will update, only manually (this includes my Norton liveupdate) i need help!!! please and thank you...

Try Feshing ur Modem or Router The cashe may be building up not letting u update.Then again try making sure ur software on ur computer is set right like ur autoupdate systems Norton Is a Bi*** to use i hate norton but what ver. norton are u using and what OS winXp,2000 Ect.

 

I assume by feshing you mean powercycle your modem/router, which is a good idea, also try closing and reoping steam. Probably also wanna temp try disabling your norton firewall make sure thats not causing the conflict.

 

why not log onto the IP of whatever dianostic program your modem has and make sure the required ports aren't blocked or if your using a software firewall like Zone Alarm which is what I'm using now... Go into it and make sure that program has internet rights or permission to access the internet if it does make sure its update client has access as well. If all else fails you have two options either shoot your computer starting with the modem first or just come back here, I prefer the shooting the computer part better though works for me.

 

I'm having this exact same problem now and have tried all of your solutions so far posted. I reset my modem and router. Turned off my AV and firewall. And updated everything. This is tied into the post I made today too with the Battlefield 2 server post. Any other ideas guys? Did you find a solution, cobain_is_legend?

Well a friend of mine has that problem and I have had the problem to If you have the disk for CSS or HL2 wat ever you used to install it Replace your config file for your server list or i can send u a new file C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YOUR ACCOUNT\counter-strike source\cstrike
try replacing the config and the client DLL MAKE SURE U MAKE A BACK UP OF THE FILES.

Try running the game without the firewall running and see if you can see any servers.

But it's not just CSS and HL2. I cant ping anything on FEAR, UT2004, or Battlefield 2! It's like I have port blocking on somewhere, but I've tried taking my router off my network (plugging directly to my modem), disabling my firewall and AV, resetting my modem, checking my LAN adapter settings (NIC Card settings) and I cant find anything that would keep my PC from pinging servers on my games. I've tried system restore to which has NEVER worked for me. It seems to work until after I restart and get back to my desktop where it nicely says "No changes have been made to your PC." It says that no matter how many different backup dates I try. This is retarded.

 

First, System Restore will work but sometime requires you to be in safe mode sometimes so if you wanna restore your computer restart and press F8 before the windows Xp boot screen comes up and restore it like. 2nd Do you have two DNS for your modem ? If so Take ur 2nd DNS and move it to ur first then ur 1st DNS to ur second.I think it maybe be ur DNS. Tell you what do you have a MSN or something like to IM with ?
