I m having no signal problem on my pc . Earlier when I face this problem I tried removing ram and inserting it again that time it worked ,but its not working now ,also my last power chord got damaged so there was smoke from power supply unit but still it was working fine . My PC is very old . Tell me what to do other than replacing whole components ?

My first part would be change out the CMOS battery. Easy. Quick. Cheap. $4.00 @ WalMart. (though I would go somewhere else)

The second thing I'd try is boot with a linux usb. Watch while it boots. You will see it load and test various functions and drivers and subsystems. If it can't boot you'll get an idea why.

Once you let the smoke out, your PSU is toast.

On a very old system, it may not be worthwhile pursuing a replacement.

Can you supply your system specs?

I m not sure if the smoke was from PSU or the power cord

Can you tell me if other factors are also there that could do that other than PSU?

Its most likely from the PSU as you stated.

Can you give us your system specifications and describe what is going on exactly when you try to power up the PC?

If your system is working fine and achieving POST, can you try a new monitor or a different video interface on the current monitor ie DVI or VGA cable?
