    Hello and Welcome to MajorGeeks.
You said that you tried different monitors and different cards. Did you try a different cable?
What type of Machine are you running?

yes i tried different cable. i installed the cmos battery and it started working again. but thats the problem. it runs for a while and it shuts off. im not sure if it could be that it only has the fan for the cpu. nothing else. dont know if the mobo is overheating or what. im using win xp. not sure what type of machine it is. the mobo is p4m900 micro 775.

It very well could be that it is overheating. You should have at least one other fan in the the case to help circulate air out of the case.
Does it have a Heatsink under the fan on the CPU?

yes it does have a heat sink. i found a fan right by the hdd that wasnt connected. i connected it but it just blows to the hdd.

What do you mean it blows to the HD?

Definitely need to know what kind of rig he's got. Custom, or manufactured?

I can't recall a recent BIOS that won't tell you the PC went out on a thermal sensor trip. If someone set up a RAID array, that could explain the fans cooling the HDD.

Other side of the coin, is that it could simply be the Power Scheme settings.

so i just got to work. i reset everything from the bios to factory default. the fan i was talking about is located on the front panel blowing towards the hdd. it wasnt connected so i connected it. the computer is working fine now. i believe it was because the hdd was overheating. but its working now. thanx for the help.
