    Hi

Has any body got any ideas...

A few days ago my PC would not power up at all. When I hit the switch nothing would happen. So I opened up the case and found the the LED on the M/B was lit.
So I changed the power supply and when I flicked the switch, fans etc started, but there is no signal to the monitor.

My M/B has an onboard VGA, so I tried a PCI video card but still no luck. Also swapped RAM about.

Is there any way I can test to see if the M/B is busted?

    Any ideas????

    M/B = Asus Tuwe-M
    CPU = IntelĀ® Celeron

sounds like it may be a bad switch or power supply. you can buy a power supply tester real cheap at tigerdirect or newegg. Also i would check with a multimeter the voltage coming out of the wall.

Are you getting any power at all to the machine, getting any beep codes?

if youre getting beep codes then you can go to the mobo manufacturer's website and look up what the codes mean.

As I said before I have tried a working power supply and when I push the power switch the CPU fans spins, but there is no singal to the monitor.

have you tried resetting the cmos jumper?,it could be a few things stopping it from powering up you need to remove everything that isnt needed,hd,all expansion cards, just use one stick of memory, reset the cmos jumper and give it a whirl

Yeh tired that. Dont think the M/B has a reset CMOS jumper, to reset it you must short out 2 solder points.

unplug comp and remove the cmos battery for 20 secs, replace then try

I would Check/Test the new PSU, might have got a lemon, is the new one big enough?
Are you sure all the cables from the PSU are connected, re do them, double check everything, how about the 4pin 12v one?
Are you getting any beep codes?

Another thing, this is also signs of shorted MOBO, is your MOBO full of dust or look around see if ya got any loose screws rolling around or similar.
Sometimes short from dust or a screw is recoverable once the undiserable condition is removed.

Seems you have tryed reset CMOS, might try again, then dont try to boot, only try access to BIOS.

When all else fails, remove MOBO from case connect Only basic Hardware= CPU/HSF/ one stick memory/Video card or if you have Onboard video none/ ya need power switch from case/& the Power supply, nothing else, do this while the MOBO is out of the case, Place mobo on cardboard box, then if you can get it to fire up try to access BIOS, no HDD or CD/DVD roms are needed to do this.
