No snow here.

I posted a couple of old photos on the Got Snow thread; I thought I'd start a new thread and add a few more.
They were taken in October of 1990 when I drove over from Melbourne to Perth. I spent a few extra days in the Geraldton region, and visited the Pinnacles in Nambour National Park:

Thanks to GIMP for my first look at the fourth picture. The exposure was all wrong, but a few tweaks have finally made it viewable after all this time.
I don't want to go all Uncle Bert here and bore you stupid with my happy snaps, but here are two of Bluff Knoll, down in the southern region of WA.

Snow does fall occasionally here, as you can see from the photos at the link. But the last recorded fall was in 1992, so it's not exactly skiing country.
You're advised that the climb takes about three hours. I thought that was a generous estimate but I was soon to discover my mistake.

The summit didn't look anywhere near that far away the car park...

As per Halo's request, I have all these images available in large versions. If you would like a copy for a screensaver or wallpaper let me know.

Beautiful pix!!! In the first couple, what are those "things" ?? Are they ant hills, or termite hills? They are beautiful, and thanks from us DUN users ;)

Some nice photo's, there are some awesome landscapes in Aus, my uncle lives the oposite side to you and he's sent me some nice pics.

The last one is breathtaking, I really need to travel more lol

They're limestone formations. And the wind moves the sand around, exposing and covering the rocks at different times. Every visit is a new experience!
What's a DUN and what do you use it for?

The southwest of WA is the one part of the state that resembles the east coast, very green.
About ten years before these photos were taken I hitchhiked up the east coast to Brisbane. I spent a couple of weeks in Byron Bay - lovely then, I don't know about it now. Eventually I worked in Mount Isa for a while over in the west of Queensland. I've seen more of Australia than most Australians, but there's a hell of a lot I haven't seen yet.

Thanks for the info!! What is a DUN? LOL That is a Dial-Up-Network Internet Connection. "DUN" We don't have high-sped Internet, and large pix load really S-L-O-W for us... ;)

The limestone formations are just awesome.. I have a very good friend that lives in Taz. Small world, eh? I used to tease her about the Taz. Devil! LOL Now, I doubt if you would get much use out of dog sleds and mushers there. LOL I know my friend said it was dry, but I had no idea it was that dry... Thank you so much for sharing with us.

Dialup! I should have guessed. Yeah, it's no fun.
My uncle lives in Hobart, in Tasmania. I finally got down there about five years ago. Didn't take the camera that time, unfortunately, but I recommend a movie called Van Diemen's Land - http://www.vandiemensland-themovie.com/ It's not a pretty tourist flick. Actually it deals with a very dark episode in the history of Tasmania, one that was hardly known to most Australians until Robert Hughes wrote The Fatal Shore. But it does capture the absolute power of the landscape there.

One thing about these DUN's, is we can't watch movies on them either! Not even U-tube!! But, will look around town, and see if I can find that on a DVD.. I enjoy a good movie. ;)

Hobart, yes, she lives very close to there too. Do you "Oiy" too? :-D She does a lot of that LOL

Oh, yes. Sometimes there's just no alternative.
