    Hi all,

I recently did a re-install of windows xp on my home desktop, BUT now I have no sound when i try to do anything. The computer actually doesnt even recognize that I have the ability to have sound in the first place. Every time something pops up on my screen the computer does that little beep they make if they dont like what you are doing.

So I have been looking online for sound drivers, motherboard drivers, any driver that I can find, but i get kinda confused with all the different names and such, so, I am attaching an Everest log and hopefully that will help.

Also as a side note i have a Razer Lycosa keyboard, it didnt work when i first installed it, so i found those drivers just fine. I installed them and it worked, but after i restarted my computer it didnt work at all. So i went to reinstall the drivers, and as I uninstalled the first install it worked again, so i havent touch it, is that normal? and is that ok to do?

    Thanks in advance :)

:wave Welcome to Major Geeks! :major

You have an MSI motherboard, model K9VGM-V, also known as MS-7253. All the drivers for your motherboard can be found at this link: http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=260. Download and install the "VIA 4-in-1 Chipset" drivers first, and restart the PC when it's done. Then download and install KB888111; it's the high-def Microsoft UAA update and is available from this direct link. Then install the "RealTek High Definition Audio" driver from the first link I posted. That should do it! As to the Razer keyboard, keyboard drivers commonly give a bit trouble from time to time, but once they're installed, they should be OK. Reloading the driver is OK and shouldn't hurt anything. I noticed in the Everest report that you have Service Pack 1 and it is really outdated. You should at least install SP2, if not SP3. Install the drivers before updating the service pack. You can download SP2 from here, and SP3 can be downloaded from here. Service Packs offer security patches and performances updates that really help with the overall function of the system and are STRONGLY recommended. You do not need to install SP2 before installing SP3 (At least I don't think you do rolleyes ).
