No Sound after New install

Hi, I am trying to setup a HTPC, but I am only getting as far as installing windows XPSP2 and my motherboard drivers and I have no sound!

Asus M2A-VM motherboard
Realtek HD Audio onboard
sound connected to my Panasonic LCD TV (I know it works because I had an older PC working just fine on it!)

I have downloaded the the latest chipset and sound drivers from Asus. Still no sound.

I have edited the machine.inf file and that did not work either.

The drivers show up in the device manager ok and say to be working properly.

Attached is the log from everest.

Can someone please help me? This is driving me crazy! It wont be a very good HTPC if I have no sound

EDIT- after reading your post a 2nd time, I see that you might need the UAA driver from Microsoft. The thing is, you can't download it from Microsoft. It's available from Softpedia, and from HP/Compaq... here's a link:

Hi thanks for the reply. I think that it is working. I hooked up a set of computer speakers to the output last night and I got sound, but when I plug the TV into it I get nothing. I don't understand why, because I have done this before and it worked fine! I am not sure what I am going to do now
