no sound after re-install win xp

Hi, can you help please , I have a dell dimention 3000, and had to do a fresh install of win xp, but now have no sound , have tried downloading drivers from dell support but still not working.

We could really use the complete Everest report, and it should be attached to a future post, and not posted in the body of the message (more info here). Anyway. . . first check the system BIOS and make sure the onboard audio is enabled. Pressing the F2 key when you first power up and see the big blue DELL logo will get you into the BIOS (also called "Setup"). Poke around until you see the audio settings and make sure it's enabled. Boot into Windows and uninstall the current sound driver via Add/Remove Programs. Restart the PC and cancel the Hardware Wizard if/when it opens and tries to reload the sound driver. Download and install the chipset driver from this link and restart the PC when the install finishes. Then install the audio driver from this link, but don't install it using the setup.exe or by simply double clicking the file. Extract it with TUGzip and install it using the Device Manager/Hardware Wizard.
