    Hello Everyone,

I know this is a frequently asked question, but I also understand the answer is based on specific info regarding the person's PC.

I run windows xp home edition on a Dell Dimension 4500. After re-installing windows, I have no sound.

Can someone please tell me what I need to do?

    Thanks for your time!!

You will want to install your chipset first:
    Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility

Then, this would be your onboard sound, if you didn't have any upgrades when built:
Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio

If this doesn't get sound back for you, upload an Everest report.

Use Everest to get a report of your system’s hardware, OS, and drivers. Upload the report as an attachment
    Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
When Everest is done scanning, click "Report" at the top of the Everest window, click next to get to "Report Profile", select "Hardware related pages", click next, select "Plain Text", click "Finish". Then when it is done processing, click "Save To File". Save it where you want to. (I would use Desktop.)
Click "Go Advanced" in the MG reply box, scroll down a little way until you see "Manage Attachments", click it, browse to your file, click "Upload", and close the window. Then submit the post. You may have to also type something in the reply box, like, "Here's my report.", so that it will submit.

Attached is my everest report. When I go into my control panel and select the Sounds, Speech, and Audio devices, and then try to adjust the system volume, it says that there is no audio device. I then look in the Hardware tab and it says that all devices are working properly.

    Just looking for some wisdom..

    Thanks for your time

All the drivers for your motherboard (Intel D845EPT2) can be found at this link. You didn't say which Windows you're using, so I'm assuming it's XP Home.
