There was a power outage today. When I booted my computer up up again (HP PAvilion 750n), there was no sound and the speaker icon did not appear in the systray like it usually does. I tried to troubleshoot with my limited computer abilities by looking the the Sounds and Audio Devices>Hardware>Properties. The only thing that it said wasn't working properly was the Intel(r) 82801 BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller. The message was "This device cannot start (Code 10)". I don't have any disks for this computer (running Windows XP as an OS). When I called the local computer tech and explained this, he said that I was lucky if that was all that was wrong and he refused to help me. I wanted to know if this is likely a driver or a sound card problem, what can I do about it (if anything) and could the power outage have caused it? Thank you.:cry

This only works if you have the installation disks for the drivers. As I mentioned in the OP, I didn't receive any system disks when I bought the system. When I asked the person I bought it from for the disks, he said, "I don't have them." Also I don't see anything like what was indicated in these instructions in the Start>All Programs. There is nothing about help listed there.
