    Overview:
I have a Dell Inspiron e1505 laptop. My computer was having blue screen of death problems before getting into windows and it could not run in safe mode. So I installed windows XP pro and it reformatted my computer. I got most of my drivers working but I cant get the sound to work, Ive tried sigma tel audio drivers and it says its not compatible. and I have tried to find other audio drivers also but nothing was working. I believe I have sp1, when I downloaded SP2 my computer would do the blue screen of death before it could get to windows over and over again but I could get into safe mode this time to restore it back to windows XP pro. I am pretty sure if I could update my service pack without the blue screen I would be fine.

I just did the report from everest I'm not sure if you need it or not.

Are these drivers showing in Device Manager>Sound, Video, and Game Controllers?
Microsoft WINMM WDM Audio Compatibility Driver
    USB Audio Device

If the the USB Audio device is showing, you need to uninstall it.
If the Microsoft WINMM WDM Audio Compatibility Driver is showing, it also needs to be uninstalled.

    But first, install your chipset:
    Intel Mobile Chipset

Then uninstall those two drivers from within Device Manager.
If you have installed any audio drivers, they need to be uninstalled through Add/Remove Programs.
    Now try installing your audio:
SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio

I installed the chipset I forgot to get the usbechi.sys last time I tried to install it, I believe that works now, but when I tried to install the sigmatel file it said "Exiterror;Error=This system does not support the driver you are attempting to install" I guess it only works for regular xp and not pro or something

It's possible you need to install the KB888111 for HD audio.
    HD_Audio/kb888111xpsp2.exe

Install it, then try your driver install again.
You may have to do a complete shutdown and boot, after the install.
