Hello all, I have a problem that I have encountered today.
I just reformatted my hard drive as it needed some cleaning up to do.
Everything is fine except the audio. There is a volume Icon in my taskbar but it has a Red X next to it. I have tried to Windows Update but there is still no sound. I have downloaded RealTek drivers and they do not all install. They give me an error.

My system Model is TOSHIBA Satellite L505 PSLU0U-02M002
    Here are my specs
    2.10 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo
    64 kilobyte primary memory cache
    2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache
    64-bit ready
    Multi-core (2 total)
    Not hyper-threaded

In my device managers, there is a High Definition Audio with a yellow question mark on it. I examined it and it seems to have error 39.

If there is anyone that can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.
Again I have tried downloading Realtek's latest HD Drivers from their site, but they all give me errors or could not complete installation.:cry:cry:cry

    Hi,

Can you please download and install Everest.....

    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181

    Install Everest and run
Click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next
Choose System Summary Only > Next
Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report, then click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) and click Save (n.b. Save to desktop is best as easy place to find it, use Browse to locate desktop)

this will give us a good insight as to what hardware is in your machine and help find the correct solution.

    Hi,
The audio driver for your machine is here....

    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/...5011&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663

driver is the last on page 3

but you probably need to install the boards chipset first.....

    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/...5011&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663

driver is 7th down on page 2. install this first then reboot.... then install audio then reboot. it does not matter if the the model is not exactly the same as yours as they use identical drivers.

    Thanks for the reply iain.t:major
I have downloaded both things you told me to, I installed the board's chipset, and restarted my computer. I tried to install the realtek driver after that but just as it was about to finish, it gave me an error code : 0xE0000100:cry

    Hi Jinskeez,

    Download and install Driver Sweeper....

    http://majorgeeks.com/Driver_Sweeper_d6171.html

DO NOT RUN IT YET!!!!! go to Start> Computer> Uninstall or change a program> uninstall the realtek audio driver. Reboot your machine into safemode (f8 on boot).

YOU MUST COMPLETE THESE STEPS IN SAFEMODE.......

    Run Driver Sweeper.

    1.) select realtek audio.
    2.) click Analyze.
3.) click Clean. (run clean button 2 times as this will clean up any residual left overs.)

reboot in to windows and click out of any "found new hardware" prompts and install this driver from here.......

    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

select I accept to the above then hit next, on the next page it is the first one on the list.

    Hi Jinskeez,
Can you please follow the instructions for driversweeper again but this time try the original board driver from here...

    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...ily=1073768663

but this time install the multimedia software third down on page 1, expand it by hitting the + yours is the 32bit version.
reboot and then install the audio driver from the same link, the audio driver is the last on page 3, remember to reboot after the install as this helps thesystem recognise the changes.
