no sound,please advise

1st of all,my apologies if this is posted in the wrong part of the forum.

also please excuse my lack of computer savvy or tech terms,im still learning the hard way!

ok,i corrupted my registry(phool!)
and
without any restore/back up in place(bigger phool!).

net result somehow i managed too reset the computer and start from scratch with disc's provided when computer was purchased.

3 issues left

1. graphic's absolutely pants,remedied by visiting MS website and updating graphic driver's.

2. no sound not resolved

3.(???) keyboard some of the buttons are not doing what they're ment too?

e.g @ is where " is ment to be
and " is where @ is ment to be

computer is
(dell)dimension 2400 p4 2.66ghz/533fsb,integrated sound,video and NIC

any help would be greatfully received
and yes i know im a PHOOL!

Couple things.

1: Never ever download drivers from Microsoft. Often they are outdated drivers provided by Gateway, etc. Better to go to the source, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, etc. This is probably your driver http://majorgeeks.com/download4415.html

2: Download the newer Dell drivers here http://search.dell.com/results.aspx...at=sup&subcat=dyd&ddate=False&c=us&l=en&s=dhs

3: Keyboards with buttons rquire proper drivers. Check your manufacturer website for them using link above.
