No Sound, tried it all

Hello! I hope you can help...I've been on here searching all day and tried all sorts of things, but nothing is giving me my sound back. I removed malware, thanks to this site's forum and maybe I deleted something I didn't think I needed so now I am soundless . I see in device manager that the multimedia has a big ! on it. i tried to download realtek and intel's audo ac97 and I get a blue screen telling me its shutting down windows. help! Please see my attached report. P.S this is a refurbished comp. so I dont have any cd's to any of it.

Your first priority should be to install XP SP3 and all security updates. Staying with SP2 is probably how you got infected. Microsoft no longer issues security updates for SP2.

If the above download does not work. Right click the media device with the yellow exclamation mark and select properties. Under the details tab select Hardware ID's in the dropdown box and provide the Vendor and Device ID's.

 

Thank you, sorry I had forgotten to return it to SP3, I had done something another thread advised and I put it to sp2. Anyhoo. its bk to sp3.

I unzipped the file...but then I don't know if it installed anything. still no sound.

If you zipped it to a folder on the desktop, in that folder is a folder called Vinyl_V700b. In the Vinyl_V700b is a setup.exe file. Double click that.
