No sound

I have no sound and when I boot up it says "cannot find ess pci audio adapter. I have win98. Compaq presario 7360. (I know it's a dinosaur)

On the review tab one commenter said it worked perfectly on your model. If you don't want to register at driver guide you can still download the file but I think you have to watch a couple of ads. No big deal but don't agree to the drive scan stuff it is not necessary and likely trouble. Their drivers are fine and I think the download is what you need.
