No sound

Hi now my sound has gone ive checked everything, like bios that's enabled, in computer management its enabled, BUT "the sounds and audio devices VOLUME" is ALL greyed out the next page SOUNDS is ok except littile box with the arrow head is greyed out,(next to browse), AUDIO is all greyed out,VOICE is all greyed out,HARDWARE is ok. I cant think of any more, It was working until it was reformated and a clean set of windows winsp2 was put it everything was fine except for this sound, any suggestions please?
And in the device manger all is clean with no question marks

 

What sound chip/card is it if you know?

 

Its got onboard graphics that's all i no!

 

Have you checked that Windows Audio (or just Audio) is Started in Services? (Start>Control Panel>Admin Tools>Services on XP).

 

if you mean my computer>manage>services>window audio yes i have, and its enabled ive just found ive got 2 audio codecs mentioned should i have that? and that's yes to your last question

Yes, I've seen the same thing. And if you install the wrong drivers, that can prevent the right ones from working.:confused

I would run Everest from this link to identify my MB, and go to their website for the drivers;
