no sound

    okay so i reinstalled windows
    apparently its a retail version?
    but now there is no sound
    i think i did reinstall the chipset drivers althoughi dont know how to make sure of that..
    and i reinstalled the realtek drivers..
    the headphones dont work either, so its not my external speakers!


    any ideas?

    under sounds and audio devices it says no audio devices ..

    Check the Malware forum too, you may have a virus.

    Hi

    Possible its a driver issue still, so would need to know your Windows version and Service Pack level? as if XP and <SP3 then you may need the UAA drivers HERE

    but tell us what devices in Device Manager have yellow ! marks?

    i have windows xp and service pack 2
    i think i got my windows installed to the retail version?
    and the only yellow marks are by media controller nd video media controller

    i reinstalled the realtek drivers

    If you would provide the make and model of the computer or service tag number or something to help us identify your hardware, we could direct you to the driver.

    The Realtek driver is most likely for the network controller.

    no they are the realtek audio drivers lol
    and ya its an hp m1170n media center desktop
