    Hello,
When I play games such as call of duty and planetside I sometimes get graphical errors where a part of an image is stretched across the screen.
It's hard to explain, Ill try to get a SS sometime of it if needed. but anyways I was told it may be due to my computer overheating, So i looked in my comp and I only have the CPU fan , when i go to bios it says system fan : 0 RPM and the cpu fan is like 3000 + rpm

my graphics card has no fan either, would this be why my computer overheats and can this be the cause of the graphics error I experience in games?

The system fan will only show up if you have a fan plugged into the SYS-FAN slot on the motherboard, this is generally used by the fan located on your northbridge chip, however most motherboards have only a passive heatsink attached there

As for your other problem post some system specs including details of your graphics card and well see if we can help you out

ive got a PNY geforce 5200 fx PCI and it came with a fan on it, so i would imagine yours should have a fan on it too, unless you bought it used from someone, or you dont have the card im thinking of. but i may be wrong here

When you were in bios did you notice cpu/mobo temps?
If you have no case fans heat could be and probably is an issue
Might consider adding a couple case fans maybe one blowing in and one blowing out
When playing games system works harder creating more heat

You can monitor temps and get info on pc hardware, etc. running program Adia32

Dont forget post up your specs Help will be eaisier to provide with such

Last thought's, If you do add additional case fans carefull where you plug in power ( fan header on mobo has minimal power to provide if header is overloaded you can burn out fan header/ best bet is connect to molex connector off your power supply

What graphics drivers are you running
your power supply should have atleast one fan maybe more, which may be dirty
most pc accumulate dust over time dirt/dust is your enemy, how is yours maybe time for a blow job.

Well, i made some changes and so far theres been no graphic mess ups but it may happen soon.

When playing planetside the Mobo temp got 40C and CPU got to 55C
That still may be a little high but considering that used to be my temp when i just started the computer, its a start.

    Is 55C too Hot though?

Whats a cheap way to lower it?

    P.S.

Thanks to everyone for their replies, especially ASUS.

Oh, and Spec, I don't have the same card as you.
    Mine isn't PNY i guess?

The video card should have a heatsink even if it does not have a fan. Try blowing the heatsink out with compressed air.:D

Most around here probably would say alittle on hot side.
Depends on what cpu ya have.Didnt catch what cpu you got I think most AMD XP family, AMD say dont die till 85c ( wouldnt want to test)
Cheap way to lower, couple case fans would help (fans start around $3 and up), new aftermarket heatsink and fan (maybe $15 and up)

Got acouple xp 2500 max out around 39c one of which is stock heatsink, a
XP2400 max at 55c stock HS, XP2000 max 58c stock HS ( seem's all cpu dont all run at same temp they all kinda have there own personalitys, besides so many variables of configurations and room temps, my room temp avg 72F)

The location of tower is factor, suggest on floor away from heat duct or away from any heat source
    Not next to monitor.

    GOOD LUCK!

Sorry couldn't resist, and good luck with the gfx card. Mine heats up hardcore with some games, been looking to get some cooling.
