    Hey therre guy,

    Sounds like you have the user permissions to install the drivers so,

    Uninstall and try reinstalling but check the following first;

    IF you have antivirus software scheduled to upate and scan etc.. at a certain time at night perchance, this may have found this audio / driver file and either rightly or wrongly (false positive on a scan) have either Quarantined or deleted the file. Hence the issue... the other thing is someone used it and turned the volume down..lol

    check the control panel sounds properties have a look and see if the audio volumes are set to mute or just really low...yeah.. I'd probablly check this option first...

    I use Comodo antivirus and it too found issue with a realtek drivers.. for HP brand of p.c's anyways...

    L8r Guy good luck with this one.:cool:wave

    Hey there,

    Did you check the other audio volumes in the sound and audio properties in the control panel. It maybe that you run a game or some application that changes the default audio to use another audio playback? or mutes one of the wave, line in, microphone etc...

    Check the default device in the audio properties and tell it to use the same sound card name located in the device manager.

    In the device manager see what the drivers are once you have them reinstalled, if there is a question mark or exclamation mark there is an issue. Try open the audio properties updating the drivers online from the device manager - if thats an option.

    Failing that and without knowing much more about your system, try setting a system restore point and then using this - yeah its a pain to restore your system but its gotta be quicker than loading the drivers all the time.

    I wonder if the p.c is clean, after the virus was removed. These can be kind of regenerated from system restore point - if these are used after cleaning.

    Once a machine has been cleaned and verified as operational, its a good idea to remove the restore points just in case, and then start the restore points again - just turn off system restore on all drives and turn back on - that will clear all the old ones. It would be a superior option to back up your system first if this is viable - just in case.

    It may also be your virus software, check this see if it has deleted or quarantined any files that the card requires.

    When you start up next and have to reinstall the sound drivers, and before doing so look at the device manager and have a look see what its says it using prior to reinstalling, also if using onboard - built into the motherboard - sound, disable this in the bios.

    G luck, let us know how you get on.
