    Hi everyone.

I recently noticed my computer no longer plays system sounds (logon, logoff, hardware insert/eject, exclaim, shutdown, etc.) and the volume icon is missing from the task bar. I have tried the following:
    -Uninstall and Reinstall sound card
    -K-LITE codec pack
-Check the box to show volume icon in task bar
    -Selected Windows Default System Scheme
-Ran sfc/scannow (but I did not have the Windows XP disc asked for)
-Made sure MUTE was not turned on
    -Volume is turned up
    -Cables connected
I have verified THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY SOUNDCARD

I can play music and videos through my media players, BUT no system sounds and no online videos (youtube) sounds.

I read somewhere my user account may be corrupt, so I created a new ADMIN account and a Limited account. The NEW ADMIN account DID NOT play system sounds; however, the new limited account did.

My other limited and guest account also play system sounds.

I kinda think it has to do something with the ADMINISTRATOR setting or something in the registry. This is really getting annoying and I have no idea what else to do.]
I also tried to restore my computer but even after i disable my antivirus, it says "RESTORE INCOMPLETE"

I really want my sounds back but I DO NOT want to reformat or do a system recovery.

    Any Help is Appreciated
