I have been cleaning a neighbours machine (malware) and trying to get the mousepad to work, I know that everything is as it should be and all is showing that it is working.. i.e drivers are installed and system says all is working well !!! I have tried numerous combo's the function keys, uninstalled/re installed drivers both oem and synaptics, it's starting to get on my nerves a bit now, because \i know it's something very "simple" that I am over looking??? any help would be greatly recieved so I can hand this machine back working as it should do!!!

    ACER Aspire 5732Z Win7 64bit.

    Greetings, iain.t...

Is there a touchpad enable/disable button next to the power button?

If not, if this a Synaptics device, is there any type of Synaptics control panel, tray icon, etc.?

And, an out-of-the-blue type question: does a USB mouse work?
