No video on PCI-E

Hi!
I am trying to install an 8500 GT into an old GT5228. The computer works fine with the on board graphics. When the 8500 is installed, the computer's fan comes on but it never boots (no signal to the screen). I took the power supply from my old computer (which this card works on), it's rated 450 watts (the original psu was 300 watts). The 8500 works great in my other computer... which is about the same age or older. I tried going into the bios to see if I could change anything in the chipset but no luck. There is no option to enable PSI-E slot I saw one other thread about this problem but no luck there either. I need to run duel monitors otherwise I would just run the way it is.

Sounds like you have to disable the onboard video in the BIOS or by changing jumper settings on the motherboard. Hopefully you can do it in the BIOS. It's usually under some sort of "Advanced" menu in the BIOS and will have PCI, PCI-E or PEG displayed. If you roam through the BIOS but find nothing to disable the onboard video you may have to located the jumper setting that will disable the onboard video.

Make sure the card's well seated in the slot as well.

Thank you for replying! I have searched every option in the bios with no luck. The only thing I found on the PCI-E was an option to overclock (which is enabled). I'll look into the jumper option... thank you for that suggestion. I'm pretty new at this stuff but I'll keep trying until it works (or till I break it lol). And yes, I do make sure the card is seated all the way

 

Try disabling the overclock to start with.
