I know Google is the Firefox search default,,but I installed FF 9.0 & FF 9.0.1 on two different computers and never got a search page. All that showed up was a blank page, and in the address bar it said
'go to a website".Anyone else have this happen????

Still the same,,in the options it says in very light letters "Firefox Start Page". I just made Google my homepage. It's strange because before the updates all was well!!!!

Where does it take you when you put about:home in your address bar and hit enter?

About:home is what shows up as my FF start page which is the google page with the option to restore previous session.

about:home,,hit enter,I get "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded". I also get that when I click on the Home symbol!!!!

    Hi pistol,

When I try that page I get a message that I am using an old version of FF. I think that address may be a bit old. Perhaps FF has changed something in the configuration between recent versions?

I would still try the Restore Default button first to see if it goes to the current home page.

    about:config
    in filter box type
    Code:
    browser.startup.homepage
You can either right click and select reset or select modify and type in www.google.com
    I actually have this
    Code:
    https://www.google.com/
    as a reference page.

    in filter box type in
    Code:
    browser.search.selectedEngine
What comes up is a listing services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.search.selectedEngine
    under status it says default
    under type it says boolean
    under value it says true

I'm glad you got it sorted. :)

I use the Restore Previous Session button quite often and know I would miss it. I thought I would leave well enough alone if you were happy with the regular Google page. I'm still curious how it could happen on two computers? I'll let you know if I find anything of interest. Please keep us apprised if it should reoccur as it might be informative.

    Thanks!

You will be the first to know if it occurs again!! Remember,,FireFox is updating faster than I can type this ,,so you never know!! Thanks again for sticking with me!!!!
