I got a letter in the mail today.
A letter, from the CJIB or (translated loosely) Central Judicial Money Robbers telling me I drove an amazing 7km/h too fast and that I should pay them €30,-.
    bastards!
But on a brighter note: it's my first speeding ticket in 11,5 months that I've had my drivers license so that's pretty OK :)

How much is 30 euros in sterling or US dollars? I'm still anticipating my first ticket...and I've been driving/riding for 22 years LOL. Go figure...... (and I'm not a slow road user by any stretch of the imagination!)

At least you're not in spain. There are sections of road with a 10km/h speed limit. Yes 10 KM/H!!! I can walk faster than that!

I think that's the general idea Goldie. You seen how they drive out there ???

30 Euros for 7k's. Hmm, they must be desperate for cash in Dutchland, LoL.

I aint been done yet in 29 years of driving, but there can always be a first time, I guess. I don't consider myself a particularly slow driver either. Under 10 kph over the limit is a $50 buck fine, with no demerit points here, as far as I know. Looks like they just want the $$$ - figures.

my first speeding ticket ever was just outside Maryland, where the speed limit suddenly changed from 65 to 55mph, and i was doing 72 (which i thought was conservative!). i almost got one on the I 10 in Texas, but when the copper saw my passport and discovered i was really a texan, he let me go. my next three have been on the big island, where the police have nothing better to do. they don't stop the tourists, 'coz they know they're gonna leave. so they pick on the residents. we also have loads of spot checks. i am now very careful. all the years i drove in england, i never got stopped or hassled once.

Well maybe if their road restrictions were within the realms of sanity, they might actually pay attention to them! :p

They do in the UK too. It's all linked up to the PNC and if that thing flashes at you, you're done for. It is a really expensive way to get a photo of yourself moving fast along the freeway!!

Wow, I thought they cameras we have at traffic lights were devious.

Since you were sent a picture of you speeding as proof, why not try sending them a picture of €30 for payment? :D

The ones at traffic lights are red light cameras only...they take a picture if you jump a red light. The ones in the middle of nowhere are the speed cameras. There are websites showing you the location of these.

To my understanding...and I seen some of them when I went to UK to visit a friend...but anyway...they have the cameras on a rather large sign, so you can see when you are coming up on a camera...atleast the ones I saw!! I was also told that some of them are dummies to...and just because one flashes...you might have been fooled!!???????????

Am I talking out of my a$$ here, all of you from over there????

Some are dummies correct. The dummies may be able to flash, or they may just be totally ineffective and there for show. One village got so sick of people speeding through their little place, they tried to get a camera installed. but they cost a lot and didn't suceed in persuading the powers that be. So they made thier own, painted it the grey color and for the glass flash they literally had a clear wine bottle set in place so it looked the part. It obviously didn't work, but people approaching it in a vehicle couldn't tell the difference and slowed down anyway!

You can't always see the real ones before hand as they hide them behind other sign posts and stuff, although the law now states they should be visible...but that doesn't mean they always are ;)

I heard of someone doing that. After he mailed his picture of $100 the cops sent him a picture of handcuffs!
